In 2012, the founder of Louisiana Association of Peer Support (LAPS), Lora A. Bonnet, a leader in the peer community, came together with a group of Peer Support Specialists. This group of advocates and community partners formed LAPS in Baton Rouge, LA.
Since then, LAPS has been able to bring Louisiana peer specialists together for training, such as Trauma-Informed Care, advocacy meetings, and small conferences. Louisiana Association of Peer Support's goal is continue to educate, support the growth and promote the value of the peer support specialist community.
